About Us

The Sustainability Consortium is an independent organization comprised of nearly 60 members who are working collaboratively to improve consumer product sustainability by building a scientific foundation for driving innovation throughout all stages of a product’s life cycle.


Job Description

The Sustainability Consortium, an affiliate of the Global Institute of Sustainability, is in need of a Database Administrator who can work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

The primary function of this position is to work with database management software and determine ways to store, organize, analyze, use, and present data. Duties include but are not limited to the design and development of a Chemical Ingredient Database for consumer products. Initially this database will be used for products within the Home & Personal Care sector but in the future it may expand into other sectors as well. Responsibilities include pulling information off the web, extracting content, and integrating the data into a new database that has yet to be developed. The database will also need to have basic statistical analysis functionality or have the ability to export data into SPSS or similar software for statistical analysis.


Minimum Requirements

  • Completed their Sophomore Year at an accredited college
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, & Powerpoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the English Language
  • Ability to work independently


Desired Qualifications

  • Declared majors of Computer Information Systems, Information Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or Applied Computing
  • Solid experience in database design & development using Microsoft Access, FileMaker, or other software applications
  • Solid experience in data integration
  • Exposure to statistical analysis using SPSS or similar software applications
  • Background in text analysis
  • Professional work experience, especially in Project Management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

Android™ App Challenge

This event provides students with the opportunity to develop a Google Android™ App that will be judged based on a predefined set of criteria. Google’s Android™ operating system and Open API are the latest new technology in this space. Registration deadline: September 17th, 2010.


HP Solutions Playbook Challenge (It’s new!)

Solutions Playbooks serve as comprehensive, time-saving reference guides on how to solve specific customer challenges. For the Solutions Playbook Challenge, teams compete to design the best all-around Data Center Solution Playbook utilizing HP Converged Infrastructure. After being provided the methodology framework, scenarios and requirements – teams are given four weeks to design then present the HP Technology based Solution Playbook . Registration deadline: September 17th, 2010.


RedPrairie Supply Chain Challenge

The Supply Chain Challenge is a virtual competition using a customized web-based version of the Littlefield Technologies game from Responsive Technologies. Students will have the opportunity to manage a make-to-order factory and will make forecasting, capacity, inventory and pricing decisions. The winning team will be the one that maximizes profits by managing the assets (inventory, equipment and cash) within this factory. Stay tuned for the registration dates!

The Undergraduate Student Government intern program is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive look at the inner workings of USG. Each intern will be paired with a director or assistant director who they will assist by completing research, helping with paperwork, working at campus wide USG events and by doing other tasks associated with the job. Each intern is expected to complete 3 office hours and attend a weekly meeting with all of the interns and the Intern Director. In addition to office hours and weekly meetings there will be other staff events and campus initiatives that interns will be expected to participate in. Interning for USG can be a lot of work, but it is also a great way to become involved on campus and to meet other people who are passionate about leadership and the students they serve!

We are looking for USG interns who are dedicated, excited, and open minded in addition to having a firm handle on their school work. Interns are selected through an application and interview process that will begin in August. The intern applications will become available online at the USG website in early August. Applications will be due to the USG Office on the 3rd floor of the Memorial Union by 5 o'clock on Wednesday, September 1. After the applications are reviewed applicants will be given an interview slot with the first interviews being held on Monday, September 6.The 2010-2011 interns will be announced on Monday, September 13. Once selected there will be a welcome event where interns can get to know the staff member they will be working with and their fellow interns.

There is an open full-time position at ASU for a Systems Analyst Associate.  It is located on Tempe campus, and the position is within Educational Outreach and Student Services Web Support.  Job responsibilities focus on web application development.
